I arrived at New York Comic Con wide-eyed and naive. I left hardened, my body battle-worn, my sanity only partially intact but somehow with new hope for the group people I have suddenly found myself a part of.
Teasers, photos, metas, gifsets, spoilers and wild speculative theories for season 9 of CW’s Supernatural are left, right, center, above and below you. You can’t look at fireworks or airplanes in the night sky or shooting stars without sobbing in pain and cursing the name of Metatron; if you had a wish right now, you’d use it to sing the chorus of a Lily Allen song in his face (you know which one I mean). Going nuts from waiting for the next season of a show is one slippery slope – just look at BBC Sherlock. To keep yourself from going crazy until the next season premieres in October (so close, oh so close, yet not quite there), we recommend doing the things on this handy list. Just… to keep it together, just a little bit. Or not.
For this edition of Nerdy Fashion I decided to put my closet to the test. Be warned that this post should probably come with the tagline, Cecelia starts out exploring her closet but ends up learning things about herself. I’ve always wanted to try to dress entirely in house colors for a week, and Pottermore’s House Pride week gave me an excuse. It ended up showing me just how much of each house was in me and what advice I should start taking from each so I could become a more balanced person.
We started out with thirty two fandoms, and cut them down brutally in swaths, until only two British behemoths stood, facing off against one another. The voting has been intense… who will win? Will it be Harry Potter, the stuff childhoods are made of? Will it be Doctor Who, the stuff time and confusion is made of? Well… you’ll find out under the cut.
Oh hey look so
Satan Loki Freak Geek made a poll. And it’s nearly over. And if you’ve been keeping up with it, now is the time for the semi-finals, and there will be no joy or happiness or anything here for you. There will be no comfort for you. Only death. So, let’s go and vote!
Well, we’re halfway there, folks! Third round out of five, and we’re here to shatter your heart and ask you to pick which shards you like best. It’s been peaceful enough so far, but things are about to get bloody. It’s okay, we’re in pain too, here – and only some of that pain has anything to do with the fact that GISHWHES is over and we’re now suffering from GISHWHES related PTSD. As for last round… BBC Sherlock decimated USA Psych, which, while not a surprise was a sad moment for me. Buffyverse overtook White Collar, and will be facing BBC Sherlock this round. Harry Potter continues to dominate, having taken out Teen Wolf with something like 90% of the votes. Ouch. Game of Thrones was locked in a bitter struggle with Hannibal for most of the last round, but in the end Mr Martin proved to be a more proficient killer than Mr Lecter. Cause, Game of Thrones? Everyone dies? Get it? ..oh, whatever. No one ever gets my jokes.
We’re finally at Round 2, despite GISHWHES kicking my ass completely and totally; my apologies to everyone who was waiting for Round 2. I guess I should think twice before taking on the fandoms AND Misha Collins at the same time! (Or, as my phone likes to call him, Misha Collision.) Anyway, I hope everyone is ready for Round 2; it’s going to be a little gnarly.
Okay, like, that last round? That’s what we meant by TERRIFYING AND BLOODY COMBAT. The BBC Sherlock and Elementary fandoms went AT IT like sworn enemies on prom night, man. We’ve never seen votes turn around that quickly twice in the space of two hours! Where are you people coming from? Is this what Steven Moffat feels like every day of his life? I will admit that I was cheering for the Elementary fandom to win after the initial shock of BBC Sherlock not being in the lead anymore wore off; even though I do not watch Elementary and think the female-asian-american Watson thing to be kind of gimmicky (played by none other than Token Asian Woman Lucy Liu? I mean, come on!) it would have been very interesting for the competition, if one of the guaranteed favorites had been toppled in the first round by a newer fandom. But yeah, in the end? No such luck. CBS Elementary may have owed BBC Sherlock a fall, but we’ve ended Round 1 with Elementary shot in the head on the roof, and BBC Sherlock tumbling off and staring at John wistfully from across the graveyard until
Season 3 Round 2 comes around.
Buckle your seatbelts, folks, because things are about to get funky. And bloody. We’ve picked the fandoms, we’ve paired them off… and now, the battle to the death will begin. Well… death or elimination, really, but when fandoms come into question those two are about the same. It’s okay to be a little terrified, because this is a little terrifying. Please try to avoid killing people; voting is the only thing that’s supposed to get violent. So, get ready to smash your keyboard as you vote, and stuff… yeah. I’m going to presume you know what I mean by now, and go grab some popcorn in case there is a battle to the death between fandoms.
It’s Shark Week, everyone! Sharknado, Jaws, /r/fuckyouimashark, shark tanks in Zoo Tycoon… we love sharks. Like, really love sharks. In honor of our favorite sea predator, we’ve sat down and come up with a list of seven things that would be much improved, if only they had more sharks in them.
